    America had an interest in Cuba for over several years as it had sugarcane which was good for the U.S

  • Cuba declares first war for independence against Spain

    Cuba rebel against Spain but was not successful

  • Jose Marti leads the second war for independence against Spain

    Jose Marti was a journalist who led the next Revolution against spain

  • Valeriano Weylor is sent to Cuba by Spain

    Weylor was sent to Cuba to restore order between Spain and Cuba by herding the entire population into barbed-wire camps

  • Yellow Journlism is formed

    After the Actions of Weylor America began to write and over exaggerate for what Weylor did

  • The U.S.S Maine explodes

    Mckinley had ordered the U.S.S maine to Cuba but s it was gonna leave port the boat had exploded out of nowhere

  • Publication of De Lome Letter

    Spain recalled General Weylor, however in 1898 the Yellow Journalism developed a secret letter written by Dupoy de Lome the Spanish minister to the Inited States. which Cuban rebels had stolen from the Havana Office. The Lome letter talked crap about president mckinley

  • U.S Invades Cuba

    In June 17,000 men boarded the banks of Cuba and invaded it

    President Mckinley asked congress to use force against spain after the U.S.S Maine exploded and congress granted him permission

    Admiral William T. Sampson set up a blockade in Cuba which blocked the Spanish Fleet

    based on public opinion war had favored itself so on April 11th McKinley had asked congress for authority to use force against Spain within a week Congress granted McKinley so in returned McKinley attacks Manila Bay with 11,000 men

  • Spain surrenders the Phillipines

    On April 30th, The American fleet sailed to the Philippines and 11,000 Filipinos joined forces with America and caused Spain to surrender in August.
