  • Sugar act

    Increased profits from the west India and north american sugar trade.
    Placed tariffs on sugar, wine, coffee as well as other products.
    It was put in place to replenish the British treasury.
    Colonists were angry, boycotted sugar products or smuggled them.
    The British government liked this act as it brought extra money from the colonies too the British government.
  • Stamp Act

    Taxed everything that was printed or used to print.
    Made to pay for the French Indian war and support in the colonies.
    Colonists became angry and violent protesting and boycotting, some rioted.
    The British government wanted this act and bypassed conformation with the colonial legislature. .
  • Quartering Act

    made to cut the cost of military expenses.
    Most colonists saw this act as another tax, some saw the need while other resisted.
    The British government liked this as hit brought the cost of housing British soldiers down.
  • Townshend Act

    Made to pay officials in the colonies by placing a tax on tea, lead, paper, paint, and glass.
    Colonists were very unhappy with this, protesting and boycotting, this act lead to the Boston Massacre.
    The British government liked this act as brought more profit from the colonies
  • Tea Act

    made to lower the tax on tea and allowed the East India Company to sell product to the colonies.
    The colonists claimed "taxation without representation," they were angry that they were being taxed and boycotted and revolted against this act leading to the Boston Tea Party.
    The British government liked this act because it was on a product that most colonist constantly purchased.
