  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was enacted on April 5th 1764. The Sugar Act made colonial merchants pay a tax of six pence per gallon on the importation of foreign molasses. In response the colonists boycotted english products and damagin Great Britain financially. The British felt betrayed because they felt they had been generous to the colonists.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was enacted on March 22nd 1765. The Stamp Act required all American colonists to pat a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. In response the colonists protested against the act and boycotted. The British were the ones that passed it so they didn't have a reaction.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed on March 24th 1765. The Quartering Act forced the American colonies to provide housing and provisions for British troops. In response the colonists threatened to kill the king, kill some solldiers, refused to house,feed, and give the soldiers clothing and bedding.
  • The Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were enacted on June 15th 1767. They were an iindirect tax on consumer goods like paint,lead,etc. In response the colonists by boycotting goods, signing pacts in which they agreed not to buy or import British goods.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act was enacted on May 10th 1773. The Tea Act lowered the pric on tea from a shilling per pound to a threepence per pound. The colonists in response dressed up as Mohawk Indians and threw 342 chests of tea into the ocean in an event known as The Boston Tea Party.
