    Maria's work expanding

    • Maria wrote an article for the magazine Roma entitled, "Social Miseries and New Scientific Discoveries." The Italian Minister of Education invited Maria to give a series of lectures in Hygiene and Anthropology at the teacher-training school in Rome. Then in1899, Maria attended Women's Congress in London and worked at the Psychiatric Clinic in Rome. In 1900, Maria became a Director of School for training teachers of children with developmental disabilities.

    More Lectures and First Children's House(Casa dei Bambini)

    Lectures in Anthropology and Biology at the University of Rome's School of Education, incorporating her clinical observation of pupils in Rome's Elementary School. These lectures became the basis of her book Pedagogical Anthropology(1910). First Children's House was opened at 53 Via Dei Marsi in the San Lorenzo District of Rome on Jan 6. The Children's House in Milan ran by Maria Maccheroni.

    First training course in her method

    She gave first training course of her method to about 100 studetns in Citta de Castello. She wrote her first book in English Version called, "The Montessori Method" that later was translated into more than 20 languages. In 1910, two parallel teacher training courses were held in the Franciscan convent at a model Children's House. Then she wrote the second book called, "Pedagogical Anthropology".

    The Montessori Method, already being put into practice in English, Argentinean schools, beginning to be introduced into Italian, Swiss primary schools. Model Schools set up in Paris, New York and Boston. In 1912, English version of The Montessori Method had produced 5000 copies. In 1913, she ran the First International Training Course in her apartment in Rome, under the patronage of Italy's Queen Margheritta, had first trip to America, then Montessori Education Association also founded in USA.

    Second International Training (Rome), Montessori third book, second trip to USA, accompanied by her son(Mario), addresses International Kindergarten Union and National Education Association, then ran the Third International Training. In 1916, moved to Barcelona by City's government invitation. She stayed there till the coup in 1936 and her fourth book appeared there.
