    Code of Hammurabi

The code of Hammurabi is a set of laws inscribed into stone by the King of Babylon in Mesopotamia during the Babylonian reign. These laws were enforced as a justice system by the king. An example of a law states “If any one steal cattle or sheep, or an ass, or a goat, the thief shall pay thirty fold", however, they could also be put to death. This has created an impact on our legal system today by instilling the idea of punishment if a law had been broken.
