Transmission Electron Microscope
Ernst Ruska created the first electron microscope. An electron microscope can only exsmine dead specimens but are very useful for looking at the the cell structure of something. -
Scanning Electron Microscope
This microscope sends electrons over the surface of the specien instead of through it. The results are in a more detailed 3-D image. -
Scanning Tunneling Microscope
Scientists can see individual molecules on the outer layer of the cells. They can magnify a specimen up to 1,000,000 times.
