    French and Indian War.
    • French wanted to trade furs with the Natives, and they wanted to move West of the mountains.
    • The British wanted more land, so they took it all away from the French and Native Americans.
    • The Colonists didn’t listen, and they crossed to the west side anyways.

    • Colonists could not settle to the west of the Appellation Mountains.
    • The British didn’t want the colonists to pass the Apps, so they could have more land.
    • The Colonists didn’t listen to the British and went past the mountain range anyways.
  • Treaty Of Paris

    • This Treaty gave Brittan the east side of the Mississippi.
    • The British were happy that they were getting more land, and that they could try and get into the trade system with the natives, like the French had.
    Most of the colonists were upset, the Native Americans were very angry that they had to give up more of their
  • Sugar act

    • A law that placed taxes on sugar, molasses, and other products that were shipped into the colonies.
    • The British didn’t really have anything to do with this act.
    • Colonial Merchants, who usually smuggled products reacted with anger.
  • Stamp Act

    • This was a law that required all legal, and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing that a tax had already been paid.
    • Still didn’t have a British purpose, it was just so the mother country could make more money off the colonists.
    • This mainly effected the colonist, to pay for a tax, you had to cough up a silver coin, an item that was scarce in the colonies.
  • Townshend act

    Townshend act
    • This act put tax on all household items.
    • This gave more money to the British.
    • The colonists just didn’t like the fact that they had to pay MORE taxes.
  • Writs Of Assistance

    Writs Of Assistance
    • This allowed any officer ship to invade another’s ship and go through everything without a warrant.
    • The British and the colonists both felt like this act was an invasion of privacy
  • Intolerable Acts

    • Colonists could not hold town meetings.
    • Port of Boston closed.
    • First continental congress meets.
    • Colonies began to unify.
