The Stolen Generation occurred between 1910 - 1970. The Aboriginal children were taken to missions, taught to reject their culture, to adapt the British culture and be sent to British families. The children were also punished if they were caught speaking their language.

The 1956 Olympics were the first held in the Southern Hemisphere. It took place November 22nd - December 8th. It was a very low number of participants. There were fewer than 3500 athletes from 67 countries.

The Aboriginal flag, designed by Harold Thomas, was first flown on 12th July 1971 at Victoria Square, Adelaide. It was flown on National Aborigines Day. The flag had originally been created as a symbol of the land rights movement.
