    Hitler Made a Secret Treaty With Russia

    He thought this would stop Britain & France helping Poland.
  • 1935 BCE

    Hitler Gains Troops

    Hitler began to build up his armed forces. He began calling up men to the army, which broke the Treaty of Versailles. However, Britain and France never stopped Hitler.

  • Hitler Invaded Rhineland

    This also broke the Treaty of Versailles but again, Britain and France again did not try and stop Hitler.

  • Hitler Overtakes Austria

    Hitler encouraged the Austrian Nazis to demand union with Germany. Hitler then took over Austria (breaking yet another part of the Treaty of Versailles).

  • Hitler Receives Sudetenland

    Hitler encouraged the Sudeten Nazis to demand union with Germany and wanted Sudetenland. He received it from Britain and France.

  • Hitler Marches into Czechoslovakia

    This, for most British people, was the time when they realized that the only thing that would stop Hitler was a war.

  • Hitler Invades Poland

    Hitler invaded Poland to gain "living space" for the German people.
