  • First Encounter with the Germans

    Nazi soldiers stop Annemarie and her friend on the way to school to ask them questions. Mrs. Johansne is concerned and asks the girls to take a different route to school.
  • Mrs. Hirsch's shop has been closed

    The Germans begin closing the neighborhood shops. Mrs. Johansen's worries grow.
  • The Nazis demand lists of Danish Jews

    The Rosens must flee. They leave Ellen with the Johansens. The Nazis search the appartment and are suspicous about Ellen. Mr. Johansen is able to convince the Nazis that Ellen is a member of his family.
  • A plan is made

    Mr. Johansen contacts his brother-in-law to create a plan fro Ellen's escape.
  • The funeral

    A "funeral" is held to transport Ellen.
  • Annemarie makes it to the boat

  • Annemarie is almost caught

    The Nazis have their dogs search the boat but they smell a handkerchief and are unable to smell Henrik's hidden "cargo".
  • Henrik returns to Denmark

    Henrik explains to Annemarie that many jewish people including the Rosens were hiding in his boat.
  • Peter was captured

    Peter was captured and executed by the Germans
  • The War Ends
