Nazi soldiers stop Annemarie and her friend on the way to school to ask them questions. Mrs. Johansne is concerned and asks the girls to take a different route to school.

The Germans begin closing the neighborhood shops. Mrs. Johansen's worries grow.

The Rosens must flee. They leave Ellen with the Johansens. The Nazis search the appartment and are suspicous about Ellen. Mr. Johansen is able to convince the Nazis that Ellen is a member of his family.

Mr. Johansen contacts his brother-in-law to create a plan fro Ellen's escape.

A "funeral" is held to transport Ellen.

The Nazis have their dogs search the boat but they smell a handkerchief and are unable to smell Henrik's hidden "cargo".

Henrik explains to Annemarie that many jewish people including the Rosens were hiding in his boat.
