    Spain and America decided to end the war and both made the Treaty of Paris. It is important to history because if the war isn't over the United States wouldn't get the Phillipines.

    Emilio Aguinaldo helps the USA in Cuba

    The USA sent Emilio Aguinaldo, a filipino revolutionary to gather a small army in Cuba to help the USA drive the Spanish out of Cuba.
    It is important to history because if he didn't drive out the Spanish then they wouldn't have taken control of Cuba, a key land mass during the Spanish-American War
  • USS Maine is destroyed

    USS Maine is destroyed

    USS Maine was harbored in Havana harbour when suddenly it's bottom was blown up, possibly by a mine. The incident caused 260 officers and men to lose their lives.
    It is important to history because if that never happened the press would never have yellow journalism, and in turn the U.S. probably wouldn't have started the Spanish American War.
