    Zack's mother died but his father married a woman named Judy that Zack is very close with.

    The story takes place at Pettimore Middle School, New York.

    Horace Pettimore is trying to come back from the dead using a student's body and going to kill the whole school with his zombie.

    Zack- a twelve year old boy who can see ghosts
    Judy- Zack's step-mother who is very close to Zack and can also see ghosts
    Malik- Zack's friend
    Horace Pettimore- A ghost who is trying to take his descendent's body
    Azalea- Zack's friend, Horace Pettimore's descendent
    Ms.Dubois- Zack's history teacher who is pretending to be friends with Zack.
    Eddie- Ms.Dubois's brother, helping her get Pettimore's treasure
    Wade Muggins- The school janitor who was turned into a zombie

  • Rising action 1

    At the Open house Zack meets the Donelly brothers who are ghosts and want him to join them.

    On the first day of school Zack bumps into the school bully who already hates him for beating up his little brother.

    On the bus Zack meets a boy named Malik who the school bully also hates.

    Zack tells Azalea that he can see ghosts and she tells Ms.Dubois.

    Horace Pettimore learns that the child who's body he can steal is Azalea not Zack. The reader learns Ms.Dubois has been faking being friends with Zack.

    Zack and Malik decode the writing on the gravestone. The gravestone says there is treasure guarded by a zombie.

    Ms.Dubois calls Eddie and talks about how to get the treasure.

    Ms.Dubois reads the letter written by Mr.Cooper saying that he could talk to ghosts through Seth Donelly and how he killed the Donnelly brothers.

    Zack is warned about Eddie and Ms.Dubois by Davy Wilcox, Zack's guardian ghost.

    Pettimore takes Azalea's body. Zack must confront Pettimore and save Azalea.

    Zack frees Azalea from Pettimore and gets Pettimore's treasure.
