  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 forbade the colonists to settle on Indian territory west of the Appalachian trail. This upset the colonists because they had just fought the French and Indian War for the rights to the land. Britain created it to prevent the Native Americans from being provoked because the colonists were taking their land. The colonists thought the proclamation went against their natural right to property.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
This act stated that colonists had to host British soldiers in their homes. This caused controversy because the colonists disliked the soldiers because of the Proclamation of 1763. Also, the colonists only had a limited supply of food and money. They didn't want to share what little they had with unwanted men in their house.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
This act taxed items like tea, paper, glass, and paint. These were the items that colonists really needed, so they were upset. They didn't want any taxation without representation, which means they wanted to control their taxes, or be represented in what they wanted. The Townshend Acts led to boycotts led by the Daughters of Liberty.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party happened because the colonists were sick of taxation without representation. Colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians snuck aboard three British ships, in Boston Harbor, and pushed 45 tons of tea overboard. Britain was outraged. The Boston Tea Party caused the Intolerable Acts.

    Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were five acts cause by the Boston Tea Party. Britian was really mad at all of the wasted tea and the colonists' disobedience. One of the acts shut down Boston Harbor for trade, which greatly affected the colonists. They lost money and jobs. The Intolerable Acts ruined the government that the colonists had created. All of their hard work was gone. These were the last major acts passed before the Revolutionary War.
