    Britain defeats France, but Britain is left with a deep war debt. This debt causes Britain to tax the colonies. The colonies ar upset by the taxes and turn on Britain.

  • The Proclamation of 1763

    Great Britain banned colonists from settling west of the Appalachian mountains. This is because Britain could not control past the mountains. In response the colonies ignored them because there was no way Britain could inforce this law.
  • Sugar Act

    Britain taxed sugar, molasses, and other sweets. The colonies boycotted British goods and sent petition to stop taxes.
  • Stamp Act

    When colonies bought paper items such as newspapers, wills, etc. they would have to buy an additional stamp. Many colonies burned the paper and held the stamp act congress
  • Quatering Act

    This act forced colonists to feed and house british soldiers. Colonists locked their doors and barred their windows refusing soldiers from coming into their homes.
  • Townshend Act

    Another tax is passed for imports such as tea, glass, and other goods. Also added the Writs of Assistance which allowed British custom officals to search ships. Colonists smuggled and reduced imports into colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    When the people of the colonies can't stand taxes anymore they form a mob and confront the british. One young man tries to egg on one of the soldiers and steps over the line. The soldier hits the boy in the face with the base of the gun, starting the massacre.
  • Tea Act

    British East India Trading Co. taxes tea for three pence a pound. This company also chooses who can and who cannot sell tea. This leads to The Boston Tea Party.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    Angered by the Tea Act the colonists dressed as native americans and snuck onto British ships. on the ships the colonists dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor. The amount of money that tea costed in todays money would equal about one million dollars.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts

    John Adams, Patrick Henry, Sam Adams, and George Washington met to figure out what to do about the intolerable act. The Continental Congress takes actions such as, demanding repeal on the intolerable act. They train militias, smuggle in weaponry, and boycott on certain goods.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Britain sends troops to Conchord, MA to seize stored weapons. The Sons of Liberty learn Britain's plans and get to Conchord before the British, Billy Dawes and Paul Revere start their ride to Conchord, but get captured at Lexington. Meanwhile, Sam Prescott rides to Conchord to warn that the British were on their way.

    The "Shot Heard'Round The World" is fired, starting the Revolutionary War. It is 60 minutemen over almost 100 british soldiers. When the smoke clears there are 8 dead and 10 were wounded. Many call it the shot heard round the world because of the huge impact this war had on the world,
