    Proclamation of 1763
    A proclamation that kept the colonists from building and/or colonizing beyond the apalachian mountains. The British thought of this to reduce war with the natives. The colonists did not have enthusiasm for this because they were growing and felt restricted.

  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764
    A 3 cent tax was passed on sugar to pay for the bills from the French and Indian War. The colonists had major problems withe act for the reasn of they had not say in the matter. The British passed the act to pay for the war bill.
  • Currency Act of 1764

    Currency Act of 1764
    The Currency Act of 1764 forced the colonist to only use British money. The British believed in theis act due to the lack of silver/gold mines in the colonies. The colonists hated it because it was much harder to get money into the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act of 1765

    The Stamp Act of 1765
    The Stamp Act was the first direct tax towards the colonies. It was on stamps and the British used it to get out of the debt from the French and Indian war. The colonists despised it because of "Taxation Without Representation".
  • Quatering Act of 1765

    The act called upon the colonists to care for the soilders satationed in the colonies. The British believed in this for it was easier than taking all the troops home. The Colonists wanted the soilders to be removed for it was very hard on the already hurting families.
  • The Stamp Act Congress of 1765

    The Stamp Act Congress of 1765
    The Congress met to inform Britan of the Colonies distaste of the new acts applied to the Colonists. The Colonists were happy about this because it was some representation from the colonies. This caused the British to then repeal the previous Stamp Act.
  • The Declatory Act of 1766

    The Declatory Act of 1766 was an Act proceeding the repeal of the Stamp Act that stated that the British were able to force Acts on the Colonists. The colonists obivously hated this because it gave them even less freedom then before. The British were excited for it because it gave them more dominance over the Colonies.

    The Townshends Acts of 1767
    The Townshends Acts were a series of acts taxing common goods like tea and paper. The colonists were shocked by the despicableness of the act and had the Boston Tea Party. The British needed the taxes because of the war costs from the french and Indian war.
