  • End of French and Indian War

    End of French and Indian War
    The war lasted from 1754 to 1763, it was caused by tention at the borders of the French and English territories. In the end of the war, England wins almost all land from the French, which is mostly west of the Ohio River Valley. Although they had great success in this war they are in great debt. This problem needs to be solved so they start to tax the colonists.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The colinists were strictly banned from settling west of the Applachian Mountains. Colinists believed that they have the right to settle and live wherever they want. Although this was a strict law, colinists ignored this and still settled west.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    England is still in debt, so they choose to tax the colininsts on sugar and molasses with the Sugar Act. The colinists are not happy with this so they boycotted British goods and sent a petition to England. The king of England chose to ignore this petition completely which angered the colinists. James Otis said, "Taxation without representation is tyranny" which soon became the colinists battle cry.
  • Stamp Act

    England saw this 'debt' as an excuse to tax the colonies and make money all for england. Thats what they're there for, right? Just mercantilism. Well, England decided to make a law that required colinists to buy stamps for documents. These documants includedwills, newspapers, letters, trading cards, etc. Colinists decided to burn papers, and they hels a Stamp Act Congress. They demanded for the tax to be repealed.

    When the Brithsh soldiers came to the colonies, the colonists were expected to house and feed the soldiers. The colonists didn't even think the soldiers belinged there, so they refused to house or feed them. The Colonists felt that their rights were violated. Seeing that there was nowheere for the British to say, they set up tents in the Boston Common.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Yet another tax came to the Colonies. The British taxed all imports into the colonies. These imports included lead, tea, glass, etc. The colonists thought this was going too far, so they smuggled goods into the colonies. When the British found out about this, a law was passed- called the Writs of Assistance- that allowed the soldiers to search ships and houses for smuggles goods. The colonists also reduced imports and made their own goods.

    In the evening on March 5th, the colonists started to mob arounf the British soldiers and make fun of them. The colonists also made fun of them. In all the confusion, a British soldier though he heard the order to fire, so he did, killing the first of five people killed that tragic night.
  • Tea Act

    In 1773, England passes a law that requires all colinists to buy tea only from British East India Company. This is referred to as monopoly. The colinists were not happy about this because tea is still taxed three pence a pound. The company also chose who could buy the tea, and who could not. The colonial merchants soonwere run out of buisness. The colonists needed to do something about this, so they formed the Sons of Liberty. These people formed town meetings to plan the Boston Tea Party.

    In reaction to the Tea Act, the Sons of Liberty and other colinists snuck onto a British ship and dumped 45 tons of their tea into the harbor. The 116 colinists that took part in this dressed up as Indians so their identities would be hiddend. This took the Colinists from 7 to 10pm because the crates were so heavy. They here about 400 pounds per full box. Other than weighing alot, these crates of tea costed a large amount of money. About 1 million dollars in todays money, 10,000 in theirs.

    Coercive/ Intolerable Acts
    Due to the debt in tea that the colinists caused the British (because of Boston Tea Party) the British closed the Boston Harbor until the tea is payed for. Trials for the men involved in the Boston Tea Party were moved to England so they had a higher chance of being found guilty. England also strengthened the Quartering Act so the soldiers were forced to be housed. They also banned town meetings, so something like The Boston Tea Party never happened again.

    Paul Revere's Ride (Continued)
    Paul Rever and Billy Dawes are soon captured near Lexington after warning the Colinists of the British after warning Sam Adams and John Hancock to escape before the British came. Sam Prescott rides from Lexing to Concord warning everyone else that the British were coming. The Mass. Minutemen soon met the British Soldiers at Lexington where the 'Shot Heard 'Round The World' was shot. The fighing continued into the next day, this was called The Battle of Concord.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Paul Revere's Ride
    The British are planning to go to Concord, MA to seize weapons from the colonists. The Sons of Liberty soon learn of this plan so Billy Dawes begins his ride from Boston to Lexington to warn the Colinists that the British werw coming. Paul Rever sees two lanterns lit in the Old North Church, which was the sign that the British were coming by sea. Paul Rever begins his own ride, warning the perople that "The Regulars are coming!"   • Lexington And Concord

    Lexington And Concord
    From April 18-19, about 700 British troops headed to Concord to seize munitions. 77 Minutemen were waiting for them. 8 farmers were killed, and this war had begun. This was the first time there was a soldiers vs, soldiers war in their history. Also, rebeling against your mother country was something unheard of, so it was shocking to many people. This war led to a huge impact on the world.
