    World War 1 was a major war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. It involved all the world's great powers, Which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies and the Central Powers. More than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. There were millions of casualties in this war, due to technological advancements in weapons.

    The National Socialist German Workers' Party was located on the far right, and commonly known in English as the Nazi Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. The party was created by Anton Drexler as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.

    The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty created after World War 1. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied powers. This Treaty blamed Germany for causing the War. Germany had to pay reparations of about $442 billion dollars in todays dollar.

    Anton Drexler was the previous leader of the Nazi party. He was leader from 1920-1921. Then Hitler became the leader until 1945.

    This is an autobiography written by Adolf Hitler. The first volume was published in 1925, and the second in 1926. Hitler began writing this while he was in prison after the failed Putsh attempt. "The narrative describes the process by which he became increasingly anti-semitic and militaristic, especially during his years in Vienna" (Wikipedia, Mein Kampf).

  • Nazis are elected into the Reichstag

    The July 31, 1932, election produced a major victory for Hitler’s National Socialist Party. The party won 230 seats in the Reichstag, making it Germany’s largest political party, but it still fell short of a majority in the 608-member body.Political deadlocks in the Reichstag brought a new election in November 6, 1932. In that election, the Nazis lost two million votes and 34 seats. Even though the National Socialist Party was still the largest political party, it had lost ground among voters.

    Hitler lost the presidential election to Hindenburg, and he appointed Franz Poppen as Chancellor. The Nazi party was growing, they won the election and were voted into the Reichstag. Hitler demanded President Hindenburg to make him the Chancellor. Deadlocks were happening and Hindenburg fired Poppen, and appointed army general Kurt von Schleicher as the new German chancellor. 57 days later he resigned, and Hitler was appointed Chancellor.

    The Reichstag building was the building where the German parliament was located. That night the building was empty except for a watchmen, and a student was walking by and saw someone running through the building half naked with a torch. Ten minutes later smoke was bellowing through, and soon all that was left were the walls. The result was 4,000 communists who were related to the Nazi party were arrested. Hitler suspended the basic right of citizens until the problem was settled.

    The first presidential election ended with Hitler only getting 30.1% of the votes. Hindenburg recieved 49.6% of them. The Nazi party later won the election into the Reichstag. Hitler them demanded president Hindenburg appoint him Chancellor. The Nazi party was loosing ground, and he appointed a new chancellor. He resigned and Hitler became Chancellor. Hindenburg died and Hitler declared himself Dictator.
