    Hitler in WWI
    After years of poverty, Hitler found a sence of beloning by joining the Military to fight for Germany in WWI. In 1916, during the Battle of the Somme, Hitler was injured and was hospitalized in Germany. During his stay, he was horrified by the apathy and anti-sentiment of the German citizens and he blamed the Jews for this. This idea of an Anti-War conspiracy became an obsession and later an eternal hatred for the jewish community

    The Treaty of Versailles was the treaty signed to end the first World War. It was signed near the Versailles palace in France.
  • Nazi Party is formed

    Nazi Party is formed
    Hitler joined the German Worker's Party in 1919 and put in an extreme amount of effort to make it succed. In 1920, Hitler took charge of the party propaganda and recruited some of the men he knew in the army. In Feburary of 1920, the German Worker's Party held it's first mass meeting as urged by Hitler. Hitler's speech at this meeting was drowned out by applause, and the German Worker's Party was renamed National Socialist German Worker's Party, or Nazi for short.

    Hitler becomes leader of Nazi Party
    By 1921, Hitler had been gaining notoriety outside of the Nazi party. Hitler was looking on how to spread his movement to the rest of Germany, so he traveled to Berlin to vist Nationalist Groups in the summer of 1921. When he returned on July 11, he announced his resignation. The Nazi Party relized it was the end for them if Hitler left. So Hitler announced he would return on the conditions that they made him Chairman of the party. His demands were put to a vote and he became head of the party.

    Beer Hall Putsch
    The Beer Hall Putsch was an attempt to overthrow the Weimar Government, by Adolf Hitler, in order to replace it with Nationalistic Right Wing Government. By 1923, many right wing governments had gravitated to Southern Germany. On November 8th, 1923, Gustav Kahr, the Bavarian Prime Minister, addressed a meeting of around 3000 businessmen in a beer hall in Munich
  • Hitler tried for Treason

    After the Beer Hall Putsch, Hitler was tried for treason. However, this did not mark the end of his Political Career, but just the beginning. Hitler admited to wanting to overthrow the government and outlined his reasons. During the 24 days of this trial, Hitler's daring grew greater. At the end of the trial, on April 1st 1924, Hitler was sent to an old fortress in Landsberg, where he began writing his book Mein Kampf.

    Hitler wrote Mein Kampf while he was imprisoned in the Landsberg Prison. He put his future plan's for Germany in the book. He also voiced his opinion on certain social groups such as the Jews, the Communists, the Socialists, and anyone else Hitler had a strong dislike towards

    Stock Market Crash
    The Stock Market Crash of 1929 that marked the start of the Great Depression sent worldwide financial markets spinning into entropy. Since the German Economy was based foreign capital, it made it very vulnerable. Workers in Germany became unemployed as production levels fell. Hitler saw another opportunity to overthrow the German government. In 1923, Hitler failed in trying to take it by force, so he would instead take it legally through election.

    Hitler voted Chancellor of Germany
    Adolf Hitler and conservative leader Alfred Hugenberg argued over Hitler's demands for new elections. Within a tangled web of Political infighting and backstabbing, this was to be the final arguement that would result in Hitler becoming the new chancellor. By this time, the Great Depression had led people to become very afraid and desperate for relief. Around Noon on Jan 30th of 1933, Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor

    The Reichstag Burns
    When Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany he would not abide by the rules of democracy, but instead would use them to establish himself as dictator. By Feburary 22nd of 1933, Hitler's Nazi Storm Troopers had established themselves as the direct police. On Feburary 24, the Nazi Storm Troopers raided the Communist Headquarters in Berlin and arrested all of the 4,000 members. On the 27th, a man named Marinus van der Lubbe burned the Reichstag in protest to capitalism and to start a revolt.

    Hitler becomes Dictator
    After the election on March 5, the Nazi's began to takeover local German State Offices. Using the state of emergency degree, the SS officers barged into local government offices and threw out the legitimate office holders while replacing them with Nazi Reich commissioners. On March 23rd, the newly elected Reichstag met to discuss passing the "Law for Removing the Distress of the People and the Reich". After the Law was passed, Hitler was now recognized as the Dictator of Germany.
