  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The sugar act is one of the acts that the king put in place to control the colonies. The parliment set this act that taxed on sugar, molasses, coffee, and other products. This made the colonists very angry.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was yet another way that King George the third could keep control of the colonies. He taxed on important documents, playing cards, and stamps. There were serious penilties if you did not pay the taxes. The colonists were furious with all the acts the king had placed on them.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was an important event in history, which showed how angry the colonists were. About 50 citizens attacked Brisitsh guards. The leader of the guards told the men not to shoot, but unfortunatly one of the guards shot and killed a man. Some of the troops were caught guilty of manslaughter.

    The British East India Company had placed taxes on tea to keep control of colonies. They wanted to control all trade of tea. The colonists were so fed up with the acts placed on them.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston tea party was one of the most brave acts of the colonists. The colonists got upset by the taxing on tea, so they decided to get revenge. They disquised themselves as natives and jumped onto the british ships in the harbor. They took all the tea on the boat and dumped it into the harbor. This caused corruption between the bristish and the colonists.

    The Intolerable Act was set in place after the king was angry about the Boston Tea Party. The king made the colonists pay for every pound of tea thrown into the harbor. He passed many acts, including the shut down of the boston harbor from anything but british ships.
  • The Battle at Lexington and Concord

    The Battle at Lexington and Concord
    This battle was one of the most important battles in the revolutionary war. Lexington was where the first shots of the war were fired. The british general Thomas Gage sent 700 men to go to Concord and destroy any amunition and try to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Luckily the Brisish were unable to get the supplies and the men and they retreated.

    Battle At Bunker Hill
    This battle was the first battle of the revolutionary war. The American Mililtia fought the british. The battle actually happened at Breeds Hill. Even though the british won, this battle gave the americans pride that they would actually win the war.
  • Battle of New York

    Battle of New York
    The Bristish went to calm the colonists and tried to take over New York. They wanted to push George Washington to go south. They were sourounded the americans 3 ways. This was a brutal Bristish win.
  • The Battle of Trenton

    The Battle of Trenton
    George Washington led his troops across the Delaware River. They attacked the Hessians the morning after christmas as a surprise attack. One spy from the hessians knew about the attack and wrote a note to the leader but the leader was too busy celebrated. This was an american sucess!
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The British tried to cut off New England from the south. This battle took place in New York. This was the turnign point of the revolutionary war. The americans won and also after this war, we had forign support.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    This battle was when the French joined forces with the americans.
    General George Washington found out that the british were based in Yorktown so he charged. The americans out-numbered the british almost 2 to 1. This battle was nearing the end of the war.
