U.S marines landed in Colon to prevent hostile columbian troops to stop reaching Panama City. The U.S Immediately reconginzed the independent Republic of Panama. U.S get part of the land.

Finally the U.S permanently controlled the 10-mile wide zone across the Ithmus of Panama, to build the canal which would make it easier to travel across sea instead of around.

    The American construction effort, which began in 1904, used the modern technology in helpful ways to make the contruction of the Panama easier and more possible. but at times they would have trouble as for some they would end up dying of disease or working out on the canal. At times there would be land slides that would bury the men alive or killl them it usually took days for them to find. Malaria and yellow fever being the main disease killing the men. Up to 200,000 workers died in the process

    In November, 11, 1911 William Crawford Gorgas thought many ways to reduce malaria which came to a success. He invented the nets to keep the mosquitos out from biting there victim from causing them to be more sick. usually the people who were already sick stayed in these kinda of net housings. More then 6,000 workers died due to the disease but was then the nets reduced down death.

    On August 15, 1914 The Panama was officially opened and ready to use finally after 10 years it was finished, And now it would be easier to travel they linked the Atlantic and the Pacific, It has now been a 100 years since the Canal was opened. Till this day they still use the Canal. The cost of the Panama to build whicht the U.S payed for came out to be $366,000,000 dollars not including the $10,000 dollars in rent each year.

    Through this whole thing the. This states that we can do anything through God if we try. Just like Teddy Roosevelt tried and tried and finally got the U.S to build the canal!
