Ponyboy gets jumped walking home from the movies
There are two groups in the city which Ponyboy live in, Socs and Greasers. Two groups are always fighting with each other. The members of Socs are richer than greasers. Pony boy is one of the greasers, the different thing of he with most of other greasers is he does not have the greasers’ haircut. It makes him be heated by socs. The event introduces the background about these two groups. -
Ponyboy talks with Sherry
Cherry and Pony are talks about the different between socs and greasers. Cherry says socs are cold-blood, and greasers are more emotional. And they also find the same thing between them, for example, both of them enjoy seeing the sunset. However, they come across Cherry’s boyfriend Bob. Bob does not like them, it cause the fight between 5 socs with Pony and Johnny. -
Ponyboy goes to see the film with Dally and Johnny
Ponyboy go to see a movie with his friend Dally and Johnny. During the movie, they meet a socs girl who has the red hair called Cherry. Dally tries to talk with her in an unruly way; however, the most sensitive boy in the greasers who called Johnny stops him. Then, Cherry begins to talk with Pony and Johnny.It is the begin of all the things that will happens. -
Darry hits Ponyboy
Darry beats Ponyboy because he arrived home very late. It makes Ponyboy annoy with his oldest brother Darry. For this reason, he run out the home and sleeps in the outdoor with Johnny.If Darry does not hits Pony, Pony will not go out and meet the 5 Socs, and Bob will not be killed. Every things will not happends. -
Ponyboy and Johnny get jumped by 5 Socs in the park
Cherry’s boyfriend Bob meet Pony and Johnny after drunk because they have talked with his girlfriend. He and his four friends hit Pony and Johnny. During the fighting, Johnny kills Bob.It lead to Pony and Johnny hides in the church, and cause the fire. -
Johnny and Ponyboy head to Windrixville to hide in a church from the police
Johnny is afraid after he killed Bob. Pony and he ask Dally for help. Dally gives them some dry clothes and let them hide into the old abandoned church on the top of Jay mountain which called Windrixville. It is an important place because Pony and Johnny cause the fire at their, then save the children. -
Ponyboy reads Gone with the Wind to Johnny
In the church, Ponyboy read his favorite book Gone with the Wind to Johnny. The poem in this book attracts Johnny; it is a poem about everything could be changed, and people need to cherish the things they have because you may lose them one day. -
Johnny and Ponyboy cut their hair
In the church, Johnny and Ponyboy cut them hair because they afraid the policemen will find them. Although Pony really love his haircut because it is individually and made him like his brother Sodapop, he cut it finally. The haircut is the symbol of greasers. The new haircut makes Pony more tough. -
The church gets set on fire and Ponyboy and Johnny run in to save some little kids, and then Dally runs in after to save Johnny
Dally drives and takes Pony and Johnny to the lunch, after they come back to the church, they find that the cigarette which they left cause a fire in the church. And there are many children in the church. Ponyboy and Johnny rush into the church and save the children soon. But Johnny’s back is injured in the burning church. Then Dally comes into the church and saves Johnny. After this accident, Pony and Johnny becomes heroes, but the accident also kills Johnny. -
Ponyboy meets his two brothers in the hospital
All of the three people are sent to the hospital. Ponyboy’s two brothers Darry and Soda come to the hospital. Darry apologies to his youngest brother for his hit and hugs Pony. Pony understands his oldest brother’s love from his tear. Although Darry is serious sometimes, all he has done is for his family. -
Ponyboy has a conversation with Randy
Before arrive the hospital, Ponyboy meets Randy, one of the socs, and he is also Bob’s friend. They have a significant conversation. Randy tells Pony that Bob’s parents never blame him, the way they educated him cause he never know what is limit. Randy thinks they are cold- blood, if they see the fire; they will not save these children. Another thing is greasers will never win the socs even though they could win the rumble. It makes Pony knows socs more, he thinks there are good people in socs -
Ponyboy and Two-bit go to the hospital to see Johnny and Dally
Pony and Two-bit are go to the hospital to visit Johnny and Dally. Dally only hurt his arm, but Johnny’s situation is not well. He is afraid the death and he thinks he has not enough experience. -
Rumble
Because of Bob, socs and greasers have a rumble. Before the rumble, Pony asks other greasers why they love fighting. Some of them think fighting makes them exciting. Darry tells Pony he does not like rumble, but he need to fight for his brother and greaser’s honor. Finally, greasers win the rumble. The most interesting thing is the attitude of every greasers to the fight and Darry’s reason for fighting. -
Johnny dies
After the rumble, Pony and Dally go to the hospital to see Johnny. But Johnny is dying. He says the last sentence to Ponyboy ”keep gold.” This event makes Dally and Ponyboy deep in sad. Johnny wishes Pony could keep his personality. During this event, Dally thinks he wishes Johnny did not tough as him that he will not save these children. Dally begin to blames himself after Johnny dead. -
Dally dies
Dally is lose his mind after Johnny dead. He cannot live without Johnny. Johnny is the one who is every one of greasers want to protect. He needs the gang and the gangs also need him to keep the gang balance. He is the only person Dally cares in the world. For this reason, Dally let the policeman shoot him intentionally and end his life as a criminal. Two friends were dead makes Ponyboy sorrow. -
Ponyboy decides to wtite the decent theme because he is failing English
After Ponyboy comes back to the school, his English teacher tells him he is failing this class. However, if he could write a good semester theme, he will pass with C. After he read the letter that Johnny writted to him, he decides to write the story that happened on himself. It showed readers why we could read this story -
Sodapop receives his letter to Sandy back and unopened, then he cannot stand Darry and Ponyboy bickering and runs out
Ponyboy is so disappointed. He argued with Darry but does not think of Soda’s feeling. Soda’s girlfriend Sandy gave him a letter which let Soda knew she does not love him as he thought. It made Soda cried many nights, and he runs out the door. It causes Darry and Pony promise no fight any more. -
They all go to court and Ponyboy is allowed to stay with Darry
The people who relate to the case about Bob are go to the court. The judges asked many questions about live with Darry. And Pony chooses to still live with Darry.It means Ponyboy is really love his olddest brother even though they are not understand each other some times.
