Boy is born
Boy was in breech position and had to be delivered through cesarean section. Pg 87 -
First tooth
Boy's first tooth finally came in. She started drooling a lot and seems very uncomfortable and non-cooperative when it comes to breast feeding. Pg 130 -
Boy walks.
Boy has finally took her first steps unassisted. This shows that she is developing gross motor skills at a normal pace. Toddlers usually start walking without aid around 9-17 months. Pg182 -
Boy's terrible twos
Boy has begun to explore everywhere. Making the entire house a potential hazard. We decided to "baby proof" cabinets and doors we did not want her wandering into. We also gated the stairs as we did not want her to explore what it felt like falling down them. p182 -
Boy and animism
Boy displayed an aspect of egocentrism called animism. She found a new tea time friend in a stuffed elephant she named Dog-Arf-Arf. She says Dog-Arf-Arf is quite skilled at brewing special teas that give super powers. Animism is giving inanimate objects feelings and thoughts. Pg242 -
Boy's attention span is increasing.
Boy is able to sit still and listen to an entire story. Usually by age 5 myelination is complete which helps increase attention span. p232 -
Boy understands conditional sentences
I told Boy if she ate all the slop on her plate that she could have a ice cream sandwich for dessert. She begrudgingly devoured the food stuff! She is showing signs of language development and understanding. p306 -
Boy displayed seriation
While playing with lincoln logs I asked Boy to put them in order from smallest to largest. She did so with little effort. Seriation is the third achievement of concrete operations. This shows that my child is healthy and advancing cognitively. p295 -
Boy displayed ambivalence
Boy's swimming team won the state championship. She was happy because she won but also sad because her best friend was on the losing team. Ambivalence is when a child is capable of feeling two emotions at the same time. p311 -
Boy's menarche
Boy has her first period definitely signaling puberty. Menarche is the term used to describe a woman's first period. p343
