1. Kite runner
Amir and Hassan sits and watches a kite tournament, and Hassan brings Amir to the exact spot where the kite will land. Here Amir understands that Hassan are really obedient to him. -
2. Threat for being friend with a Hazara
Hassan is a Hazara that was a minority in Afghanistan. Three elder boys by the names of Assef Wali and Kamal, threatens to beat up Amir because of his friendship with a Hazara. When it suddenly comes a sound from the road, Hassan quickly aims at Assef with his slingshot. And the three bullies lead them alone. -
3. Tears into pearls
Amir has written a story to Rahim Khan who is a friend of Baba. Rahim gives him some feedback, and in the envelope containing the feedback it stands BRAVO. Amir tells Hassan what bravo means and tells Hassan his story. This is an important event because Amir will later try to be a writer. -
4. Hassans birthday
At Hassans birthday Baba picks Hassan and Amir up in his sportscar. And lets Hassan hang out the window. He takes Hassan to a kite store and buys him a kite. -
5. Kite tournament
Amir and Hassan joins a kite tournament. Hassan will try out his new kite in the tournament. Here you are suppose to cut the other contenders strings an be the last kite standing. Halfway true the tournament Hassan lets Amir fly the kite and Amir wins the tournament. Hassan runs for the kite who finished 2nd to bring it to Amir. -
6. Sexual assault against Hassan
Hassan never comes back with the kite and Amir goes looking for him. He finds him in a back alley with Assef, Wali and Kamal in front of him. Amir gets terrified and just watches from behind a box. Hassan do not want to give the kite to the three boys, and they beat him up and rape him. Amir runs away pretends to Hassan that he do not know about it. This event makes Amir and Hassan drift apart. -
7. Amirs birthday
Baba helds a big party for Amir on their mansion. Amir does not want to stay outside with the guest when he meets Assef and his father. Assef tells Amir he got a great party, but Amir refuses to answer. He gets a gift from Hassan true Hassans dad Ali. But soon after Amirs birthday, Ali decides to leave with Hassan. And Amir see Hassan for the very last time. -
8. Amir blames Hassan for robbery
Since the assault against Hassan, Amir has decided that one of the two need to leave because he can not stand the guilt he is feeling. And since he is racked by guilt he stuffs his watch and some money under Hassans pillow, and tells his father he suspects Hassan for a robbery. Since Hassan is so obedient to Amir he approves he is guilty for it to Baba. Baba tells him this must never happen again. -
9. Invasion of Afghanistan (by the Soviet Union)
Under the Soviet unions attempt to invade Afghanistan Baba and Amir is forced to escape from the country. True a difficult escape they arrives in Pakistan. -
10. Fremont, CA
Two years after they got to Pakistan they have settled down in Fremont, California. Here Baba works on a gas station and Amir just finished high school. -
11. Flea market
Baba and Amir sell different things every Sunday at a flea market. On day Baba will meet his old friend General Taheri who came to the flea market with his daughter Soraya. Amir falls in love immediately and goes to talk to her. She then says she has heard he is writing and Amir asks if she won't to read his texts. Mr. Taheri gets a bit upset and tells Amir there is a proper way to say things when he catches him talking with his daughter. -
12. Concent from Mr. Taheri
Baba is diagnosed with lung cancer and has a short time left. Amir is really in love with Soraya, and asks Baba if he could ask for Mr. Taheri's blessing to marry Soraya. Baba asks and the General gives Amir his blessing to marry Soraya. -
13. Wedding
The wedding is only few weeks after Amir got his blessing from General Taheri. Since Baba do not have much time left they are in such a hurry with the marriage so that Baba will reach it before he dies. Soon after the marriage Baba dies from lung cancer. -
14. Meeting with Rahim Khan
Rahim Khan suddenly calls Amir and tells him to come to Pakistan, Amir asks why and he says it is urgent. He is also sick so Amir has to hurry, and he have an important message for Amir. When Amir arrives Rahim tells Amir that Hassan acutely was his brother, and that he and his wife where killed by Taliban. But his son Shorab is in an orphanage in Afghanistan. Amir goes to Afghanistan to bring Shorab to a couple in Pakistan. -
15. Taliban and Shorab
Amir has set up a meeting with Taliban because they took him out of the orphanage in Afghanistan. Under the meeting the guy from Taliban recognizes Amir, and Amir understands that the man is Assef. Assef beats up Amir but Shorab shots Assef in his eye with a slingshot. Shorab and Amir are able to escape. -
16. Happy ending
Amir and Soraya are able to adopt shorab, and in the end Amir flies a kite with Shorab. They fight off another kite and Amir runs the kite who placed 2nd for Shorab.
