    The Treaty of Versailles is a peace treaty bewteeen Allied Powers and Germany.The signing was on the June 28th,1919.

    The Swastika is a symbol with two right angles. Adolf Hitler made this symbol Germany's flag. He knew of this sybol from his childhood.

    This is a meeting where Adlof Hitler declared a national revolution had broken out. Hitler said the Bavarian govvernment was abolished.

    The Gestapo is the Secret State Police of Germany. The leader of the secret police was Heinrich Himmler.

    Hitler goes to court because he wanted to overthrow the German government. He actually admitted that he wanted to do this.

    On January 30 Adolf Hitler becomes Chancelor of the Nazi party. Nazis were so happy that Hitler was Chancelor they raised ther arms outward and yelled "Heil Hitler"!

    The first Concentration camps were created soon after Hiter became chancellor. The first camp was Dachou.

    These laws were were created by the Nazi party against Jews. Some parts of the law included defining who was Jewish and bycotting Jewish businesses.

    The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin. Hitler told the Nazis to build this stadium.

    Germany took over Autria without a problem because the Austrians did not rebel.

    The Kristallnacht is known as " Night of the Broken Glass". During this event Nazis went around vandalizing Jewish shops.

    A ghetto is an area in a city that only a specific group can live there. In this case the Jews.

    Czechoslovakia was weak and powerless to resist the Nazis.

    A vehical that was used by Nazis to kill Jewish people.

    The President declares war on Germany because Germany declared war on the Americans first.

    The Soultion of the Jews in the Nazis perspective is to exterminate every Jew in Europe.
  • The Resistance Begins

    A group of common citizens organized to help the Jews. This group was suspected in attempting to assassinate Hitler in 1944. An organized group of citizens worked to help the Jews during the war. The Resistance was suspected to be the group that attempted to assiassinate Hitler.
  • Rescue and Liberation of the Jews

    On this date Allied forces landed in Normandy, France to begin the liberation of the Jews.
  • Night of the Long Knives Begins to take action.

    Hitler was worried that the regular soldiers in his army had not given an oath of allegiance. The Night of the Long Knives was when Hitler had his loyal soldiers kill many of his regular army leaders. Those left gave their oath of allegiance to Hilter.
  • Death Marches begin.

    The Nazi's decided to remove all the prisoners from their concentration camps when they knew the Allies were getting close. The three reasons they emptied the camps was:
    1. The Nazis didn't want the Allies to have any living Jews tell their stories of torture.
    2. The Nazis thought they could use Jews as hostages.
    3. They could use prisoners to continue to build weapons and ammunition.
    The death marches lasted until Spring, 1945. Thousands of prisoners died while forced to march.

    President Franklin Roosevelt died on April 12,1945. He died of a stroke. He died duiring the Holocaust.

    Hilter and his new wife took their life when they knew that the Russians were close to capturing them. After their bodies were discovered officers burned their bodies.

    At 10:00 a.m. the International Military Tribunal started the trial of the major war criminals in Nuremberg, Germany.

    Illegal immigration of Jews grew rapidly as many Holocaust survivors escaped to Palestine. On Nov. 29, 1947 the United Nations announced it plan to partitian Palistine. This prompted David Ben-Gurion to became the leader of the Jewish defence group Haganah. This led to the future creation of Israel.
