The idea for The Ship comes to life

Apr 27, 1965

Foo Hee Hoon and Foo Hee Loon, twin brothers come up with an idea to open up a Western restaurant. They chose The Ship because of the simplicity and thhe fact that they were both sailors before.

First branch opened in Jalan Sultan Ismail

Jul 5, 1972

The first branch of The Ship opens in Kuala Lumpur, helmed by twin brothers Mr. Foo Hee Hoon and Mr. Foo Hee Loon. With their brand of Western food, they wowed customers.

Second branch opens in Petaling Jaya

Apr 5, 1982

Buoyed by the success of their first restaurant, The Ship opens a new branch in Petaling Jaya, to fulfil the Western cravings of the PJ crowds.

The Ship expands its reach to Penang

Oct 23, 1986

The Ship expands its reach to Penang, opening up the Sri Bahari branch as well as the third branch in KL, Pertama Complex.

Bukit Bintang branch opens

Apr 27, 1991

Due to overwhelming response from the city crowd, The Ship opens up its second branch in the Golden Triangle.

Second Penang Branch Opens

Jun 16, 1993

The second Penang branch opens, this time with more scale and grandeur. The Ship used an actual ship for their restaurant.
