    "Billboard" Music Magazine (Formerly know as "Billboard Advertising") was founded on the 1st of November, 1894 in Cincinnati by William H. Donaldson and James Hennegan. When it was first founded "Billboard" was focused primarily on bill posting and outdoor activites before specialising in music in the 1960's.

    Late music magazine 'Melody Maker' was founded by Leicester-born composer and publisher Lawrence Wright. "Melody Maker" had the Jazz scene locked down but still had competion from their competitors and future partners 'New Musical Express' because they were appealing to the younger generation and the upcoming Rock and Roll era.

    In 1967 music magazine "Rolling Stone" published its first issue.It was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner. This magazine focused a lot more on the culture surrounding the music scenes rather than just factual information about them.

    "Record Collector" is the UK's longest running monthly music magazine. When it was first launched "Record Collector" was published in a glossy A5 format and ran no more than 100 pages, this however changed and since 2003 it is printed in a full colour A4 format.
