    A grammar school is founded in Leeds. It has succeeded and turned now into The Morley Academy.
  • Council

    Leeds is given a corporation and mayor.
    It changes every 4 years and new ones come along.
  • Church

    St John's Church is built. It it now used for weddings, christenings, funerals and other significant religious events.
  • Plague

    Leeds suffers an outbreak of plague.
    It was a really bad diease and killed a lot of people and made some people really ill.
  • Water

    Leeds gains a piped water supply. Which meant water was avaliable for families.
  • Brewery

    Tetleys Brewery is founded. It is still up and running now near Crown Point, Leeds. The Adelphi Hotel is the only pub that is plumbed direct to this brewery.
  • Railway

    Leeds is connected to Selby by rail. Peopel were able to travel by train instead of walking.
  • Transport

    Horse drawn trams run in the streets. The first public library opens.It meant that people could get around and could get books and not have to pay for them.
  • Hospital

    St James Hospital is founded. This it one of the most famous teaching hospital in Leeds now.
  • Millenium

    Millenium Square opens. It used to be the L.G.I car park for visitors. It is sometimes used for festival and other celebrations.
