This event is essential because it is telling us when the biggest concentration camp was being built 8 days ago and when it opened and because of this so many innocent people died. -

This event is essential because it is telling us when the first real prisoners arrive because the earlier ones were promoted to Kapos which are work force leaders. Also these first people were lucky because their was no efficient was to kill prisoners so very few were murdered. -
First use of the poison gas, Zyklon B, to kill prisoners.
This event is essential because it is the first documented use of poison gas used to kill prisoners during the Holocaust. This event showed Hitler that gas could kill prisoners quickly and efficiently. -
The earliest known transport of Jews were sent to Auschwitz and gassed
This event is essential because it is the first known transport of Jews sent to Auschwitz which were killed. This in turn shows how Hitler’s plan was working. -
The first transport of Roma were brought to Auschwitz and the gypsy camp was started.
This is essential because it tells us about the evolution of the death camp Auschwitz and Hitler thinking process which was that all non German were undesirable. The Roma were gypsies that originated from northern India and were usually part of the lower castes in the caste system. -
Dr. Mengele arrives at Auschwitz where he conducted inhumane experiments on the prisoners and inspected them for good health.
This event is essential because it is the arrival of one the worst doctors during this time. This is because he would do awful things to the poor prisoners such as injecting random substance into people's bodies to see what would happen. Though this was a bad practice we learned much of what we know about the human body from him. -
The gypsy camp at Auschwitz is liquidated
This event is essential because it is showing us how the Germans were trying to erase evidence of the mass murder of Jews and others before the Russian's came. -
Auschwitz is liberated and all remaining prisoners are freed
This is essential because it tells us when the camp was shut down and when the prisoners were free. Though the camp was liberated all prisoners but those in the infirmary were left to die. This also was when we were able to learn much about what went on in concentration camps. -
Hitler commits suicide
This event is essential because it tell us when the person who brought all this pain and suffering to millions, died. Because of him 6 million Jews died while many others where hurt. -
Holocaust remembrance day was started
This event is essential because it describes when the UN declared that january 27 was Holocaust remeberance day.
