The Union won this because Jefferson Davis destroyed his city since he knew that the South was going to lose, and he didn't want any important documents to be found from the Union. This battle was important because Davis, the president of his own side, destroyed and burned everything down even though they were going to flee for life. When Richmons was broken down, Lincoln came to visit the city.

    General Lee was the leader for the South, and he was surrendered and captured. General Grant was the leader of the Union, and he discussed about the details to him. The Union won because they captured him. This part of the Civil War because it ended the Civil War, and there were conditions of surrender to Lee. Also, this was important because Grant gave 25,000 rations to feed his troops which is a lot. The Civil War ended on April 9th, 1865
