General Grant from the Union led this war with everybody from the Confederacy. The Union won this war. This was an important war because this was the major turning point and the Confederacy split in half and lost control of the Mississippi River for themselves. -
The Wilderness Campaign
General Grant was the leader of the Union and they were competing with the Confederacy. The Union won because Lincoln defended him. This battle was important because it took place in dense forests where hundreds of soldiers were wounded. -
Farragut at Mobile Bay
David Farragut was the leader for the Union, and he attacked the Confederacy. The Union won because the invasion worked. This was important becuse even though David Farragut felt dizzy, he was still very brave and he tied himself to the ship for the invasion to succeed. -

William Sherman was the leader for the Union and he marched to the sea. The Union won because they destroyed anything useful for the South. This battle was important because many enslaved people became free. -
Fall of Richmond
General Lee was for the South and the Union moved towards Richmond while Lee was in the South. The Union won this because Jefferson Davis destroyed his city since he knew that the South was going to lose, and he didn't want any important documents to be found from the Union. This battle was important because Davis, the president of his own side, destroyed and burned everything down even though they were going to flee for life. When Richmons was broken down, Lincoln came to visit the city. -
Surrender at Appomattox
General Lee was the leader for the South, and he was surrendered and captured. General Grant was the leader of the Union, and he discussed about the details to him. The Union won because they captured him. This part of the Civil War because it ended the Civil War, and there were conditions of surrender to Lee. Also, this was important because Grant gave 25,000 rations to feed his troops which is a lot. The Civil War ended on April 9th, 1865
