    As the largest ethnic group in both China and world wide, It has a population of about 1.16 billion accounting for 19% of the world's total population. Over 99% of them live in China while others live abroad in other countries like Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, North America and many countries in Europe such as the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Han Chinese has become one of the main ethnic groups in those countries.

    Liu Xi
    Liu Xi was an elder brother of Emperor Gaozu of Han. He was made Marquess of Hexin after Han Dynasty established. In 201 BC, he was made Prince of Dai. After defeated by Xiongnu forces in 200 BC, Xi was demoted to Marquess of Heyang.In 195 BC, his son Liu Pi was made Prince of Wu. Xi died in 193 BC and was bestowed the posthumous name Qing .

    Han Xin (?? – 196 BC), , a militarist at the beginning of the Han Dynasty, ,was from Huaiyin (today's Jiangsu Province). Both of his parents passed away when he was young. Although he was very poor, he studied hard and became familiar with military strategy and tactics. He had great ambition and wanted to become an important person one day.In 209 BC, two farmers, Chen Sheng and We Guang, started an upraising against the corrupt Qin Dynasty. Soon rebellions broke out everywhere in China.

    The Han Dynasty was a period of peace and prosperity.

    Many people lived in the cities. Life was nice for the rich who lived in big houses that were finely decorated with carpets and art. They wore silk robes and were well educated. Life in the city was difficult for the poor who lived in crowded houses and often went without food. Life in countryside was better for the peasants. They had to work hard, but they generally had food and shelter. Taxes were reduced during the Han Dynasty and people who tilled the soil were often respected.
