The Great War

  • The Begining

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie visited the capital if Bosnia. There they were assassinated by a Serbian named Gavrilo Princip. As a result of the assassin being Siberian, Siberia was presented with an ultimatum. Either meet all Austria’s demands or have war declared upon it.

  • To officail start to the war

    Siberia would not meet all of Austria’s demands but offered others in return. Austria said no and declared war upon siberia that same day.
  • The Schlieffen Plan

    The Germans developed the Schlieffen Plan, this was a plan for the German army to rush over to France, defeat them, and return to fighting Russia.
  • The attack on Germany

    The allied forces attacked Germany northeast of Paris. This resulted in a four day battle resulting in the retreat of the German Army.
  • The attack on Paris

    Through out September France became the battle grounds for the Allied and Centeral powers
  • Trench Warfare

    In the month of Februray the idea of trech warfare was introduced. This was the act of digging miles of tunnels to protects soliders from danger.
  • Verdum

    At this battle the slaughter reached its max with a total of over 300,000 casulities on both Germany and Frances side. Also Germany created a blockade in order to cut of Russian supplies.
  • British relief

    From the begining of July to the end of September the British Army tried to releave French forces. In the first day over 20,000 British died.
  • New technology

    The invention of the Submarine was introduced.
  • Russian Death Count

    At this point in the war over 5.5 million Russians had been killed, wounded, or taken POW.
  • Vladimir Lenin rose to power

    Vladimir Lenin rose to power in Russia and tried to stop the involvement in the war.
  • The last push: The Battle of France

    Germany did their final push against Allied forces. This became the largest artillery attack in the war.
  • Push through the German Frount line

    The allied forces pushed through the German line.
  • The offical end to the war

    Soldiers turned against the Kasier and ended the War. This made Germany into a republic.
  • The Treaty of Versallies

    The treaty of Versailles was signed between Germany and the Allied forces. This gave way to the creation of the League of Nations.
