  • War in the Trenches

    In early 1915, both armies built treches to protect themselves from fires from the enemy team and made a new tactic called trench warfare.
  • Archduke and Sophie

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie visited Sarajevo, the capital of Bisnia, and got shot by Gavrilo Princip, a member of the Black Hand.
  • Austria, Serbia, and Russia

    Austria rejected Serbias offer and declared war and Serbia's ally, Russia attacked Austria at their border.
  • German vs. Russia and France

    On August 1, the German government declared war against Russia.asked France for help but German didn't let France to react and declared war on both France and Russia. The Triple Alliance was also formed
  • Allies vs. Germans

    The Allied countries attacked the Germans northeast of Paris in the valley of Marne River.Every available soldier was sent to fight. The fight took four days, and after the four days the Germans retreated.
  • Eastern and Western Front

    In the east, the Russians invaded Germany, which means that the Germans will have to fight on both the east and the west front.
  • Loss of 300,000 men

    The Germans launched a huge attack against the French around Verdun. Both sides lost more then 300,000 men.
  • Battle in July-September

    In July, the British army tried to relieve pressure on the French, the Britih forces attackd the Germans northwest of Verdun. In the first day of battle, more than 20,000 British soldier were killed.
  • Unrestricted Submarine Warfare

    The Germans said that teir submarines would sink without warning and other ships in the water around Britain. This was called unrestricted submarine warfare
  • US joins war

    President Wilson asked Congress to declare war and joined the side of the Allies.
  • Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

    The communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seized power in Russia, and wanted to end the war.
  • Germans vs. Allies at France

    In March 1918, the Germans had a mass attack on the Allies in France. More than 6,000 German cannons opened the offensive with the largest artillery attack of the entire war.
  • Second Battle of the Marne.

    In July, the Allies and Germans fought at the Second Battle of the Marne. The Allies had 350 tanks and destroyed the German lines. There were 2 million more American troops, and the Allied forces began to take over Germany.
  • WWI comes to an end

    After fours years of war, the leaders of the victorious nations gathered outside of Paris to work out the term of peace.
  • League of Nations

    fives years after the Frankz assassination in Sarajevo, the people created the League of Nations. It was an internation association that wasnted to keep peace among nations. The United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan were the permanent leaders of the leagues Executive Council.
