    People during the Stone Age spent most of their time hunting, fishing, and gathering food these people were called Nomads.

    After the Ice Age came the Neolithic Times when gradually farming replaced hunting and gathering which is known as the farming revolution.

    The Rise of Sumer

    The first civilization in Mesopotamia was Sumer which is now southern Iraq it was in between the Tigris River and the Euphrates River.

    Villages Starting to Grow

    Two of the earliest known communities are Jericho which is now known as Israel and Jordan the other city is Catal Huyuk which is now present-day Turkey.

    Sargon and Hammurabi
    Sargon king of the Akkaidians had the first empire in the world and then it collapsed over 200 years later because of invaders. Hammurabi king of Babylon was known for his law code.

    The Assyrians
    About 1,000 years after Hammurabi, a new empire started and the empire was called Assyria, the Assyrians were strong people they produced iron weapons that were stronger than copper and tin.

    The Chaldeans were led by king Nebuchadnezzer they controlled all of Mesopotamia. They invented the hanging gardens
