    The First Picture
    The first photograph was taken in 1814 by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. He used a sliding wooden box camera which exposed a bitumen coated pewter plate to light. The picture would disappear after taken.

    The Beginnings
    The first digital camera prototype was created in the 1984. In order for the camera to work, 16-nickel cadmium batteries were needed. On the side of the camera, there was a digital cassette instrumentation recorder. Dozens of analog circuits were wired together on about 6 circuit boards.

    Apple QuickTake 100
    This was the first digital camera to be released to consumers. It was able to work with a computer at the buyers home. It required AA batteries and weighed 1 lb. The lens had a range of 4 ft to infinity.

    The Kodak DC-25 was the first camera to use compact flash. It also came with a LCD screen that allowed the user to view the pictures after they were taken. The compact flash has an available speed up to 90 MB/s.

    Olympus was the first company to create a camera with a 2.1 megapixel zoom lens. It also allows owners to hook up the device to most electronic home entertainment systems. The C-2000 Zoom does not need film to function either.

    The Sony Alpha a77 includes the first ever OLED viewfinder which allows the user to actually see the adjustments being made to the picture through the viewfinder. It also has 2359K dots for outstanding resoulution.
