    The Berlin wall was constructed on August 1961 by the German democratic republic. It was a major structure during the Cold war as it restricted Western Berliners from migrating to East Berlin. During 1949 and 1959 2 million people had left West Berlin in favor of the freedom that democracy provided. The wall also represented a physical structure of the “Iron Curtain” that separated the West European countries from the East communist countries.

A cliamtic point of the Cold war, it was considered as an event that was extremely close to Nuclear warfare. The United states had taken action against the Soviet Union as they were providing Cuba with Nuclear weapons to establish a strategic advantage.

    The signing between Richard Nixon and Leonid Brezhnev. This was a major event in the cold war as it indicated a decrease in tension and ultimately an agreement to the restriction and threat of Nuclear warfare.
