    The potsdam conference brought an end to the allied alliance between Soviet Russia, Britain and America. During this conference the big three would often dispute about post war revelations and what were to happen to germany. The disputes happened especially between Stalin and Truman. Some mark it as the start of the bulding of tension between America and Soviet Russia

    Marshall aid plan
    The Marshall Plan was a U.S.-sponsored program implemented following the second world war to aid European countries that had been destroyed as a result of the war. The Americans offered the aid to countries as an attempt to stop the spread of communism in Eastern Europe. The soviets rejected the marshall plan. Stalin's Foreign Minister, V.M. Molotov, called it an "imperialist" plot to enslave Eastern Europe. Tensions were hypened from the rejection of the marshall plan
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    The Berlin Blockade occurred in 1948 when the Soviets imposed a partial blockade of Berlin in April, and then a full blockade in June. The soviets did not want Berlin to be an independent, unified state. Not only did they starve the population of Berlin, they attempted to starve out the current government. America responded by defying the Soviets blockade of Berlin by flying food supplys in. This defied Soviet Russia's Blockade and was at the height of containment.

    The United States, seeking to stop the spread of communism, this time in the country in Vietnam. The war was an attempt on the U.S behalf to rid vietnam of Ho Chi Minh ruled communism. A miss informed and experienced America was slaughtered during the war and ultimately to failing in there attempt to whip out communism in vietnam. Amercias attempt to stop communism came out the cost of the deaths of around 50,000 american soldiers

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    The Cuban Missile Crisis was the pinnacle of tension during the cold war and the world came the closest its ever been to a nuclear war. It was the first major showdown of the cold war. The russians had been developing nuclear warheads in Cuba to use as a scare tactic towards America. The americans alerted the russians that the deployment of any warhead would be seen as an act of war and the two nations would be at war. America launched a miltiary blockade of Cuba to prevent nuclear war
  • The end to the soviet union

    The end to the soviet union
    the dissolution of the Soviet Union marked an end to the Cold war as it saw the end to communism in the Soviet Union. The now non existent Union split up into 16 new self governed states. Soviet Russia had now become the federation of Russia, no longer ruled by communism and instead it became a Republic. This concluded an end to the Cold war as communism in the soviet union and soviet union itself was extinct
