    south vietnam got defeated and fell to communism. it was the first televised war with north /south vietnam and the united states. it lasted almost the whole momth of april. the south vietnamese army lost in the effort to defend phuoc long: a key providence just north of saigon. the fall of south vietnam would lead to the fall of the south east asian nations to communism aka " the domino effect".
