  • Abriham Lincoln Elected President

    In The 1860 election Lincoln ran for the Republican party, against John C. Breckenridge, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas. He carried 18 States, received 180 Electorial College votes, but only 39.8% of the popular vote. This election is what cause the southern states that succeded to do so, as they had said they would if a Republican Nominee was elected.
  • The Confederate States of America is Formed

    The Confederate States Of America was formed when the states (In this order) South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee Succeeded from the union in 1860-1861. They formeed a whole new nation that allowed slavery and elected Jefferson Davis as their President. Their motive was th election of Abriham Lincoln in 1860. They, as they had threatened, succeded when a republican candidate was elected.

    The first battle of bull run is also nown (by the Confederates) as the first Manassas. This was the first major "land Battle" in the civil war. It ended in a confederate victory and ended the unions hopes of winning the war quickly.

He was careful though not to anger the border states. He did this after the battle of Anteitam because the union was in a position of power. since the south veiwed themselves as a foreighn country not many slaves were actually freed.

    Lincoln was assasinated five days after the end of the civil war durnig his second presidency. He was assasinated by John Wilkes Booth.
