First above ground railway opened in Wakefield, England. Its main job at the time was to transport coal.

On August 17, 1807 Fulton had adopted a steam engine for a steamboat called the Clermont. The power it has had allowed the boat to travel up the Hudson River as it could travel down the river. But then they started to doubt the boat. . Everyone was wrong the steamboat could travel all the way from Pittsburgh to the Ohio River and from there to the Mississippi river.

The first passengers to travel on a train aboarded. Recently the train had only carried cargo, so its something new. The train could carry up to 70 people to miles at a time.

By this time more then 200 steamboats had successfully run up and down steam. They became very popular and there wasn't a place they couldn't go on the water, so everyone liked them.

Then by the 1840's there were many steamboats on the water. Over 3,000 canals were connected to some very important and major water ways in the US.

By the 1840's, the U.S. had over 60 different railroads in 26 states, with most of them being rather long. They lasted atleast 4,500 km's. Trains started to being faster, and were able to travel farther & hold more people.

By the 1900's, most people chose to use train. Companies usually travel with travel now rather then boat, because trains are cheaper and faster.
