    A tax on sugar, molasses and other goods that were brought in by Brittian.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    A lawpassed by Parliment that said all legal documents had to have a stamp that said the taxes had been paid.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were made to punish the Colonists for protesting to the quartering acts and other acts that they passed. One other act that caused this direct punishment was the Boston Tea Party.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This act was passed to pay the governers and judges to convince them to not become independent.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A fight between Brittish soldiers and Colonists that resulted in five dead Colonists.
  • Lexington and Concord

    These battles mark the start of the war between the Colonies and Great Brittian which is also known as the Revolutionary War.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    The Colonists took position on Reeds Hill and were attacked by the Brittish forces and after two days with significant Brittish losses the Colonists retreated.
  • Common Sense

    A paper written by Thomas Paine who told the Colonists that they shouldn't be ruled by a small island three thousand miles away. It also said Great Brittian was hurting their economy, and that a Monarchy was not a good form of goverment.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A declaration for independence from Brittan. This document said that the Colonists were breaking away and were to choose their own form of goverment.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    The American army crossed the river and stormed into Trenton on Christmas and the Hessians surrendered because of lack of men and readyment.
  • Ticonderoga

    Ticonderoga
    The Brittish took over the area around the area of Ticonderoga and the colonists retreated.
