    was a plan proposed by Benjamin Franklin in 1754 that aimed to unite the 13 colonies for trade, military, and other purposes. The plan was never successful because the plan was turned down by the colonies and the Crown. The snake used to represent this idea was to Represent individual colonies. The colonies did not want to unite because they did not want to give up their independence

    was a law that prevented the colonists to settle west of the Appalachian mountains they wanted to prevent conflict and war between the native Americans and the British. King George III made boundaries where the native or the British couldn’t cross or they would be killed or punished.

    The sugar act also known as the revenue act was an increased revenue on sugar and molasses. The sugar act was put in place to increase enforcement on smuggling goods to sell without a tax for cheaper. The tax on sugar increased the cost of the imported goods and lowered the price for exported goods. The sugar act was the first tax placed on the American colonies by the British parliament. The colonists believed the sugar act was a restriction on their justice for trading.

    The quartering act was passed by the parliament in 1765 and it meant that the colonists had to house and feed British soldiers. The parliament was passed because the British believed that the colonists were in debt to Britain because Britain supplied many resources. the soldiers came into the colonists' houses, took authority, ate their food, etc.

    In 1767, the Townshend Acts were passed to put taxes on a variety of goods such as; lead, glass, paper, tea, and paint. Collecting and enforcing the taxes would be difficult, so they hired royal customs commissioners to do that. The Parliament gave the commissioner's power to search homes and private warehouses for smuggled items that had entered the colonies without payment

    The Boston Massacre occurred when British soldiers in Boston opened fire on a group of American colonists killing five men. A small argument between British and colonists outside the Custom House in Boston. The argument began to escalate as more colonists gathered and began to harass the British. an object thrown from the crowd struck one of the soldiers and knocked him down. He fired into the crowd. After a few seconds, other soldiers fired into the crowd as well killing 3 colonists.

    The Boston tea party was a raid on three British ships in Boston Harbor in which Boston colonists, disguised as Indians, threw chests of tea into the harbor as a protest against British taxes on tea. This occurred because Britain tried to collect a tax on tea the colonists were extremely angry. To show their anger, the sons of liberty dumped all the tea into the Boston harbor. The goal was to put the colonists out of business but later the British passed the intolerable acts.

    Great Britain decided to use force to deal with the rebellious American colonies, mainly in Massachusetts. In 1774 Parliament passed four acts that they described as the Coercive Acts but quickly became known in America as the Intolerable Acts because they perceived as being so cruel and severe. The four acts were the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act.

The colonists wanted self-government In Lexington “70 Minutemen” were led by Captain John Parker who positioned his men for an attack When out of know where a shot was fired and the shot was known as "the shot heard around the world". Nobody knew what side it came from, 18 men lost their lives.

The colonists wanted to break the political bonds that connected them from Britain and to declare their independence. The declaration of independence gave colonists more power and freedom. The declaration of independence was based on the philosophy that all men are created equal and all men have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
