    Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts directed the flow of goods between England and the Colonies in order to achieve mercantalism.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    Proclomation of 1763
    Stated that the colonists were not allowed to move past the Appaliacian Mountains. The colonist viewed this as a control issue.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Lowered the tax on mollasses to discourage the smuggling of goods into the colonies. The Sugar Act also allowed officers to sieze objects that are suspected to be smuggled with out a legl warrant.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Stated that all private homes could be used to shelter the English Military. This wasn't only invading private space, but also a financial burden.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    A tax on almost all printed goods. it was not legal to have a piece of printed paper that didn't have the King's seal on it.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. All luxury item, except paper, so the tax lmost only affected the upper class colonists.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    There was a riot in Boston, so an English Military corp was marched in to settle things. Somebody threw a snowball at one of the soldiers, causing that man to shoot his weapon. This then created chaos. five men were killed in the 'Massacre'.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea acts, put a tax on all tea. This made a lot of the popultaion angry, because tea time was a part of life for them. This act resulted in the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists were arngry with Britain for the tax on their tea. This resulted in the creation of the sons of liberty. The group of men spoke outwardy about their angers, so when the ships of tea entered the harbor and weren't allowed to unload or leave, they struck. They dumped all of the tea that was in the ship, into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    As a result of the Boston Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts were put into effect. These Acts closed the boston harbor, allowed town governers to ban town meetings,let british officials go on trial in britain, and re-instated the Quartering Act. The colonists found this series of Acts as the final straw.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    These were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. The 700 english soldiers were sent with orders to capture and destroy the military arms that the colonists possesed. Nobody knows who fired first, but the shot was heard round the world.
  • Declaration of Independance

    Declaration of Independance
    This is the official day that the Declaration of Independence was signed and ackwnoledged. The document was stating that their illegal act of treason was legal, in which worked out very well. We still recognize this day today, as Independence Day.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Payne that captured the attention of a lot of the colonists. It stated an argument about why the colonies should break away from England.
