  • Period: to

    French and Indian War

England and the American colonists fought against the French in American for the land. The French became very good allies with the Native Americans even though they lost. I rate this event as a 9 because no other European countries really tried to come help out the Natives while England was colonizing
  • Proclamation Line

    Proclamation Line
After fighting for the land of the colonies, the British created a rule that the colonists could not go passed the Appalachian Mountains to avoid conflicts with Native Americans. I rate this event as a 6 because this limited where the colonists could explore and colonize.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
The Stamp Act made a direct tax on goods. Printed items including mail, playing cards, and newspapers required a stamp. This caused the colonist to boycott most British goods. The act was repealed due to the boycott. I would rate this event as a 7 because the colonist had the nerve to boycott against the British goods which they had the result of getting the act repealed.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occured when a group of colonial protestors clashed with troups from the British resulting in 5 deaths. The Sons of Liberty used this as a propoganda, I rate this event as a 5 becasue the colonists could use this as an example to get more colonists against the British.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
The Tea Act was in which the British put a new tax on tea. I rate this event as a 3. The colonists had so many taxes now.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
The colonists were so angry that they had a larger tax on tea! All their money was going to taxes! They had to do something so they dressed up as Native Indians, snuck onto a ship in the Boston Harbor, and dumped nearly 1500 boxes of tea into the harbor! I rate this event as a 6 because it was a great rebellion!
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
After the Boston Tea Party occured, the British were very mad. They added 3 new acts as a punishement for the colonists. The colonists had no trial by jury, were forced to house and feed English soldiers, and no ships were aloud to leave the Boston harbor. I rate this event as a 9 because these few new acts cut off the colonists from trade and freedom.
  • First Constitional Congress

    First Constitional Congress
Delegates and Representatiives from 2 of the colonies came all the way to Philadelphia to address the Intolerable Acts. They wanted King George the 3rd to repeal the acts so they sent him a letter, but he refused. I rate this event as a 8 because people from each colony all came together to try to make a difference and influence the King.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
When the British troops came to get their stockpile in Concord, farmers and militia confronted them on their way there. The British troops defeated the colonials in Lexington and in Concord. Although they lost, the colonists volunteered to fight against the British. I would rate this a 4 because the colonists decided to stand up to the actual troops and try to fight them physically.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was primarily written by Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson stated that they had the right to become independent. Locke and Rousseau's ideas were the main argument throughout the document. I rate this event as a 10 because the colonists finally decided to step up and declare their independence!
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
Because King George did not repeal the Intolerable Acts, the delegates met again to dicuss battles and the issue of independence. Most of the delegates supported the idea of independence and set up a committee to write a declaration.
I rate this as a 6 because they are taking action in writing and declaring the independence from Britain.
