  • Albany Plan of Union

    The Albany Plan of Union act was written by Ben Franklin in 1754The Albany Plan of Union was a plan to give the British North American colonies a more centralized government.This put all the colonists under one government that was controlled by the British.

    The reason for the French and Indian war was that three different empires, French, British, and Indian, wanted control of the Americas.
    Because of the French and Indian war, the british were able to colonize America.

    Writs of Assistance

    The writs of assistance was enforced on the year 1761 and ended on the year of 1776
    The Writs of Assistance were a general search warrant issued to assist the British government in navigation laws and enforcing trade.
    The Writs of Assistance was supposed to affect the amount of bluggeraly/theft and was used to find stolen goods. This angered the colonists, as they did not want the british soldiers tearing up there house.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was passed on April 1764
    The sugar act was created make more income through taxes on wine, sugar, molasses, etc.
    This made the colonists very angry as they would not be able to sell their goods for as much, which made a decrease in the economic income.
  • Stamp Act

    This act (stamp act) was \enforced or passed in March 1765
    The Stamp Act was created to help cover the cost of maintaining troops in the colonies by putting a tax on every piece of printed paper they used
    The colonists insisted that this act was against their constitutional rights, and resorted in a violent mob

    It was passed on July 2, 1767
    The Townshend Acts were designed to collect revenue from colonists by putting taxes on imports of glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
    The Colonists resorted to boycotting British goods, and renewed protests in America.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre started on March 5, 1770
    The Boston Massacre was when a few boys started throwing snowballs at the British soldiers and calling them names. A crowd formed and then the British stated firing.
    When the Boston Massacre happened, it told the colonists that this was a start of new war.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea act was established on the day of may 10th, 1773
    The Tea act was designed to help the East India Company which was failing financially and burdened with eighteen million pounds of onsold tea.
    Because of the townshend act, the tea still was taxed or sold at a bigger price. Therefor the colonist would not buy any tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    It happened on December 16, 1773 and it was snowy and it happened at night.
    It was a nonviolent act of protest towards the British Government.
    This affected the colonist, because the british shut down the ports so those colonists weren’t able to receive any goods.
  • Coercive Acts

    The Coercive was established on March 18, 1774
    The Coercive Acts were different acts created in response of the Boston Tea Party, in order to reprimand those who were involved with the Boston Tea Party.
    The acts unintentionally promoted sympathy for Massachusetts and encouraged colonists from the otherwise diverse colonies to form the First Continental Congress.

    The first continental congress was established on the date of october 26, 1774 The Congress was created to make colonists meet up to reach consensus’ about passing laws and acts. This Congress was actually formed by the colonies, so they could balance out their interests. The colonists were very pleased with this.

    The battle of Lexington and Concord started on April 18, 1775
    The British army was given secret orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were stored by the Massachusetts militia at Concord. This gave the colonists Renewed hope and confidence.

    It started on may tenth, 1775

    This gave the colonists Renewed hope and confidence.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The battle of bunker hill was started on June 17, 1775
    The British army was given secret orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were stored by the Massachusetts militia at Concord.
    This gave the colonists Renewed hope and confidence.
  • Olive Brach Petition

    It was established on July 8, 1775
    The Olive Branch Petition was an attempt to assert the rights of the colonists while maintaining their loyalty to the British crown.
    This letter was suppose to be able to get the colonists and the British to avoid war. It ended up causing anger and panic.
  • Declaration of Independence

    It was ratified on July 4th, 1776
    It was the Americans requesting their independence from the English Rule.
    This document gave the colonists new rights and freedoms
