    American Indian boarding schools
    Native American boarding schools were created in the United States during the late 19th and mid 20th centuries to educate and integrate Native American children and youths to Euro-American standards. These schools they erased much of the Native american culture from the children and youths who attended them. This is really important to education because it is an example of it done wrong, school shouldn't be used as a tool to erase peoples culture.
  • National School Lunch Act

    National School Lunch Act
    the National School Lunch Program provides low-cost or free school lunch meals to students who qualify. It became a law in 1946, approved by president Truman. It is important to education because students might not be able to focus if they are hungry, and a lot of students can't afford the prices of lunches.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    Brown v. Board was a court case that found segregation in schools unconstitutional, It led to the end of segregated schools. The case started in 1952 and was won in 1954, even after segregation in schools was found unconstitutional it took until the 70's for all the states to desegregate schools. It is very important to education, without it who knows how long the desecration of schools could have taken, and it was a driving force of the civil rights movement.

    Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 is what created the federal student aid programs, like federal grants, loans, and work-study programs. It is very important, many students wouldn't be able to afford college without these federal grants and loans. The Pell Grant is the big federal grant that is given to students who financially qualify for it.

    Title IX
    Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding, which is the majority of schools. The biggest impact Title IX has on schools is in sports, it ideally gives women a equal opportunity in school sports as men. It is important because it increased the numbers of women in school athletics.
