    The United States passed the Gold Standard Act which placed all US currency on a gold standard.

    Teddy Roosevelt is sworn in following the death of William McKinley.
  • United States Acquires Panama Canal Zone

    The United States bought and acquired the land that is now known as the Panama Canal. The purchase was made with hopes of taking out the land and creating a canal so ships could travel through it without having to sail around South America.
  • Roosevelt Re-elected

    Theodore Roosevelt is re-elected as President, this time running his own campaign opposed to succeeding the death of President McKinley.
  • William Howard Taft

    William Taft is elected as the 27th president of the United States.
  • Woodrow Wilson

    Woodrow Wilson is sworn in as the 28th President of the United States following Taft
  • Jeannete Rankin

    Jeanette Rankin is the first Women to be elected to the house of Representatives
  • Wilsons Second Term

    Woodrow Wilson is sworn in for his second term as the 28th President
  • US declares War on Germany

    The United States declares war on Germany following the germans use of unrestricted warfare in American territory. Wilson has been refraining from involvement in World War I, but was advocation for peace among countries which swayed him to join in.
  • End of WWI

    Germany agrees to surrender and all other countries agree to stop fighting.
  • The Nineteenth Amendment

    The Nineteenth Amendment is passed giving all women the right to vote.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Woodrow Wilson creates the Treaty of Versailles which forces Germany to take blame for WWI and bring peace to all countries involved. However, the US senate reuses to sign the treaty
