    Thomas Jonathan Jackson was born in Clarksburg, Virginia.
  • First Job in the Military

    {month and day not known} After graduation, he joined the army and went down to Mexico, and was also stationed in New York and Florida.
  • Professor Jackson

    {real date unknown] Jackson became a professor at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia teaching artillery tactics and natural philosophy. He resigned from the army the following year
  • Called back to action

    His retirement was short lived. As the Civil War drew closer, the army called Jackson back to Richmond to be apart of the cadet corps. Since he was away from the battlefield for over a decade, his knowledge of war was fuzzy.

    {lasted until July 1st} Jackson made some preety unleaderlike stradegies compared to the Shenandoah Valley campaign, which cost them the victory of the Seven Days Battles. The reasons fro these follies are still being debated today.

    {real day unknown} After his "off day" battle at the Seven Days Battle, Jackson seemed to get his groove back with 4 better fought battles. General Robert E. Lee reconized his successes and promoted him to Lt. General of the Second Corps.

    {day unknown} After being promoted in 0ctober 1862, his first test was at the the Battle of Chancellorsville. He was able to catch General John Hooker for the Union off gaurd by attacking his army from the rear. The battle lasted for a few days, with many causlties, but in the end, Jackson won the fight when Hooker was forced to retreat.
  • An Unfortenate Accident

    During the Battle of Chancellorsville, Jackson was shot by friendly fire by the group he was leading. He was transported to a field hospital, where he had an amputation on his arm. He was then moved to another hospital in Guinea Station, Virginia two days later.
  • The Death of "Stonewall" Jackson

    Six days after being moved to Virginia, he died of complication in the hospital. His last words were, "Lets us cross the river, and rest under the shade of tress". He was only 39 years old.
