At the First Battle of Bull Run General Bernard E. Bee has been quoted of saying "There's Jackson standing like a stonewall..." and the name stuck. Another thing that happened at First Bull Run was Jackson being promoted to Brigadier General.

After fighting had ceased on May 2nd of 1863 Jackson was accidentally shot by his own sentries.

After having his arm amputated and then surviving for 8 days Jackson died of pneumonia on May 10th, 1863. After Jackson's death General Lee bemoaned, "...I do not know how to replace him for I have lost my good right arm...."
