    The Proclamation of 1763 prevented colonists from living past the Appalachian Mountains. It was created by King George III to prevent any other conflict with Native Americans after the French and Indian War.

    The Sugar Act was a law passed by the British Parliament in 1764 raising duties on sugar imported by the colonies that gave British sugar growers in the West Indies a monopoly on their products.

    The Stamp Act of 1765 was the first internal tax levied directly on American colonists by the British government. This imposed a tax on all paper products in the colonies.The colonists insisted that the act was unconstitutional, and resorted to mob violence to protest.

    The Townshend Acts were a series of British acts passed beginning in 1767 and relating to the British American colonies in North America. The acts are named after Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who proposed the program.

    A squad of British soldiers opened fire on a mob of colonists, wounding 2 men who later died and killing 3 then and there. The soldiers were charged with manslaughter, but were acquitted of their crimes. This was a great event in pushing colonists to fight for their freedom from Great Britain.

    The Boston Tea Party was a great act of defiance against the harsh taxation of goods being imported to the British colonies in North America. A group of Massachusetts colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians and dumbed 342 chests of tea into the harbor. This was a protest against the British Parliament's Tea Act of 1773.

    The Intolerable Acts were harsh laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774. They were meant to punish the American colonists for the Boston Tea Party and other protests.

    These battles signaled the beginning of the American Revolutionary War, and was the setting of Paul Revere's famous phrase "The British are coming!" The Battle of Lexington was a very small battle, and the Battle of Concord was of greater immense as the Americans were pushed back. They eventually came out victorious after watching the British from afar and gaining more and more men as time wnt by.
