    The Stammp Act was a law passed by Parliament that placed a tax on printed materials such as legal documents, newspapers, and even playing cards. The colonists were very upset because they didn't have a say in government. "No taxation without representation!" became their battlecry.

    Sons of liberty, 1765
    The Sons of Liberty are a group of men who protested against The Stamp Act. The Sons of Liberty would do anything to repeal The Stamp Act. They would try to attack the agents, burn down their houses, and hang puppets that represented the agents.

    The Townshend Acts was a law passed by Parliamemt that placed a tax on imported goods such as wool, tea, and paper. The colonists were upset because Britian itself was not being taxed, but the colonies were. The colonists decided to run a boycott.

    The Daughters of Liberty were a group of women who helped make wool tea, tea, and paper when The Townshend Acts were passed. Britian was very upset when the colonists wouldn't pay for the taxes. In 1768, Britian sent war ships over to the colonies.

    The Boston Massacre was an event in wich British soliders came over to the colonies. The colonists started threatning them as well as throwing rocks and beating them with clubs. The soliders ended up killing 5 people, unintentionally. The soliders went to trial, but were not charged for murder.

    Samuel Adams knew that Parliament was still taxing the colonists for tea, because Britian needed money, and they wanted to show the colonists who was in charge. The News was spreading too slowly. He formed The Commitees of Correspondence. The Commitees of Correspondence are groups of people used over the colonies to communicate.

    The Boston Tea Party was an event that occured when Britian made the colonies buy from only one place. This upsetted the colonists. They would not permit ships to be unloaded in Boston. They dreddrf up as Mohawks, got on the boats and threw the tea overboard.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were laws passed by Britian that forced the colonists to house and feed the soliders. Boston was put under control by a British general, and the port in Boston was closed. The Commitees of Correspondence had a meeting in Philadelphia, to figure out how to oppose British laws. The Intolerable Acts were punishment for The Boston Tea Party, and these laws would not be repealed until all of the colonists payed for the tea that they had dumped in the water.

    The other colonies helped Boston by sending food, money, and supplies. The Intolerable Acts caused many problems for Boston, because the port was closed and Boston's economy was based on trade. The Intolerable Acts also forced the clonists to choose sides. If you were with America, you were a patriot. If you were with King George, you were a loyalist.
  • Continential Congress

    The Continential Congress was a meeting held in Philedalphia with representatives from each colony except for Georgia. They decided to stop all trade with Britian until The Intolerable Acts were repealed. Each colony would start training militias, so they could be ready to fight at any moment, even though they wanted to settle this quarrel with Britian peacefully.
